On April 14th, BIMtour made two stops in León with the sessions,  BIM for Public Administration and University and BIM for professionals and companies.  The sessions took place in the School of Engineering of Leon, and were made for councillors, technicians, public administration personnel, students, and for members and associates of professional associations. More than 160 attendees participated in the BIMtour event in Leon to learn about BIM and how to implement it in their organizations and associations.

During the three hour long sessions, the speakers explained what BIM is, gave advice on how to implement it in an east way, spoke of some of the tools available to implement and use BIM, and how BIM and these tools will contribute to transforming the way of projecting, building, and maintaining buildings and infrastructures.

BIM for University and Public Administrations 

The day began with a welcome on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce of León and the University thanked the attendees for their interest.  Following this, Ignasi Pérez Arnal ( BIM Academy ) explained BIM and the meaning of Advanced Architecture and Construction 4.0.  Javier Calvo ( Miller & Co Ibérica ), co-organizer of the conference, exposed the different professional opportunities that BIM opens. From  ITeC , Ferran Bermejo addressed the standardization of BIM information and the eCOB Standard, and how Open BIM works in regards to measurements and budgets Roberto Natale ( ACCA Software ) showed us software solutions with practical cases in Open BIM for Public Administrations and BIM management of territorial constructions and systems .

During the BIM session for University and Public Administration, Ioanna Alsasua ( Graphisoft – SIMBIM ) showed how learning how to use BIM can be easy and fast if you determine the type of work and profile that is required, and finally, Alberto Colinas exposed, through his experience, how to work with the fourth and fifth dimensions of BIM. 

BIM for professionals and companies

In the afternoon session, Ignasi Pérez Arnal explained to those present the meaning of Advanced Architecture and Construction 4.0 and how BIM can be a solution. Javier Calvo (Miller & co Ibérica) explained the opportunity offered by BIM in the AEC sector. Ferran Bermejo (ITeC) spoke about using Open BIM for cost control, planning and certification, in addition to the eCOB and the standardization of BIM information in models. Jordi Casals ( gmao linx ) explained to the attendees the importance of maintenance and how BIM can help the CMMS (Management of Maintenance, Assets, Spare Parts, of OT’s).  In terms of software, ACCA presented different examples of technologies that introduce construction professionals to industry 4.0. Nicola Paltrinieri (Pinearq) addressed the issue of how the “I” of BIM can be handled. And finally, we heard from Ioanna Alsasua from Bluebeam (SIMBIM), on information management in construction in BIM and non-BIM environments.
